Hi there, my name is Mimi! I am a licensed clinical social worker/therapist licensed in Maryland and the District of Columbia with over 15 years of experience. I have been truly blessed to work with clients ranging from preteens to the elderly dealing with varying issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship issues, anger management, family issues and physical and emotional abuse to name a few. I have been especially proud of working with young adults who were formally in the foster care system transitioning emotionally and mentally to adulthood and society as a whole. The above issues often interrupt our daily lives and can feel debilitating. However, when one has a trusting therapeutic relationship with someone who cares, one can work towards a path to emotional freedom. My counseling style is interactive, empathetic and warm. I believe that listening is the key to success in a therapeutic relationship and every client that I am blessed to serve will feel heard. Being treated with dignity, respect and compassion are also the tenets that I abide by and will display in every interaction and intervention. The courage it takes to decide to seek help to experience a healthier, happier life is no small feat but will derive high dividends through our work together. Throughout this process, and through your accomplished goals, you will soon realize that this was the best decision you ever made for yourself. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and help you empower yourself. I look forward to working with you!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, clients can expect a warm, supportive, and non-judgmental space where we begin building a strong foundation for our work together. We’ll explore what brings you to therapy, discuss your goals, and identify any challenges you’re facing. This session is about getting to know you, understanding your unique experiences, and collaboratively creating a plan that feels right for your healing and growth.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My biggest strength is listening to you tell your own story. Once you have shared your story, together, we will identify the underlying issues that lead to current problems. It is my goal to help each client empower themselves to live the quality of life they desire.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

My ideal client is someone who is open, self-reflective, and ready to actively engage in their healing journey. They are committed to personal growth, willing to explore new perspectives, and eager to apply insights in meaningful ways. Whether an individual seeking clarity or a couple striving for deeper connection, I thrive in working with those who value a collaborative, transformative exchange.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and reframe negative thought patterns, fostering healthier behaviors and emotional resilience. With experience guiding individuals through life’s challenges, I integrate CBT techniques such as cognitive restructuring and behavior modification to promote self-awareness and lasting change. My approach is collaborative, empowering clients to develop practical skills for managing stress, anxiety, and personal growth.

Couples Counseling

I specialize in couples therapy, helping partners navigate communication challenges, rebuild trust, and strengthen emotional connections. Using evidence-based approaches, I guide couples in identifying unhealthy patterns, improving conflict resolution, and fostering deeper understanding. I aim to create a safe, supportive space where both partners feel heard and empowered to build a healthier, more fulfilling relationship.
