Hi, I’m Kelly! I am a Licensed Clinical Social worker in the state of NC. I am an LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist. I have been working as an outpatient child/adolescent therapist for the last three years. My goal as a therapist is to create an environment that you feel comfortable growing in and allowing you the space to heal. I have experience with treating children/adolescents and young adults (18-25) with anxiety, depression, trauma, eating disorders, as well as detailed parenting skills for children with behavioral struggles. I also have experience working with young adults that are transitioning to/from college. My approach to therapy is warm, inviting, and I love to incorporate humor in sessions when appropriate. I am here to support you through healing and growth!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session, we will spend time reviewing confidentiality, safety, and informed consent. After we are in agreement of these topics, we can move on to the topics that bring you into therapy. I will ask questions based on history/family history, past treatment, symptoms severity/duration. At the end we will have time for questions and discussing future treatment plans!

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strengths as a provider is being able to provide a safe and warm therapeutic environment for patients! Ensuring that my client's feel safe and comfortable is my number one priority. I bring my personality into sessions and when appropriate use playful humor to help clients heal. I have had the opportunity over my years as a therapist to watch many clients heal and confidently move forward to a bright future!

My treatment methods

Prolonged Exposure Therapy

I have been using prolonged exposure for two years now to assist clients in tapping into their inner strength to face their fears. I have worked alongside of children/teens and a few adults that struggle with fears of germs, darkness, heights, as well as social based fears.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT daily in therapy to assist clients in understanding the connection and power of their thoughts, feelings, and actions. I strive to create a space where you feel safe challenging your own thoughts!

Strength-Based

Empowering my clients to find their own inner strength is my goal! I strongly believe that you are the leader in therapy.

Trauma-Focused CBT

I have used TF-CBT over the last year to address symptoms relating to traumatic events in children ages 5-17. I have experience treating children who struggle with symptoms related to sexual, emotional, and physical abuse, as well as traumatic grief.

Family Therapy

I use family therapy to assist families in creating a cohesive, safe, and healthy home environment for every member of the family. During family therapy sessions, I require all members present to follow rules to ensure that there is no boundaries or disrespect occurring. Providing a space for all family members to be heard.
