Greetings, You may have read through a few profiles, and I owe you to feel the difference with mine. My name is Brahm, well, actually it is Robert Abraham Fay, my parents were hippies, so you can see where that went. Life can be difficult, and I know this first-hand. By the age of 17 I was in a homeless shelter (due to a violent alcoholic stepfather), and I had some people help me along the way. Vocational Rehabilitation helped me get a bike, and I rode to Valencia College for 2 years, was recruited to Rollins College on a grant, and attended grad-school at Troy University. I have taught upon resilience in: China, Russia, Germany, and the US. Here's what's up, of course life is difficult, and the more we run from it the more we suffer. All those years in homeless shelters taught me how to ask for help when necessary. I am a licensed clinician; perhaps trapped in a case manager's body. Counselors can provide a flashlight on all of the nooks & crannies of the past, but as your case manager, we are looking at a spotlight on your future. My job is to get fired. Plain and simple. If you are a member of a marginalized population, including all of my LGBTAQLatin+ Non-Binary, Sis, Pan, Poly & Unlabeled family, I see you and I love you. Let's find your voice, and then you can fire me! YAY!!! (confetti) That's the thrust of my existence, when I text you -- and you say, "Thank you for everything, Brahm, I think I've got this now." See? That's what's up.
I am training wheels, and my job is to eventually get fired. :) From the outset we will be planing on what is needed for relief and answers. Once self-awareness is achieved, we can marvel at your clinical progress. Once you feel consolidation of thoughts, feelings, and emotions, we can look at maintaining healthful behaviors, and I move forward and help the next one. Everything happens at the speed of life, so down the road if you need an oil-change or a tune-up we can schedule accordingly. Stay safe and be well.
OK, here's where you, my client, clock-in. If you're down with getting some results and relief, it begins with self-awareness. Therapy Journaling. No BS, if you want to use that flashlight on the past in small crevices, it pays to be documented. If you want that spotlight on the future, it pays to be planned. My job is to gently and delicately explore what happened to you, and explore what your future has in store, based on your decisions and attitude. Conversational therapy that flows organically is paramount in our shared conversations; it has to feel real.
I feel like I can support any population, as long as they are comfortable with telehealth. My preference is with anyone that sincerely seeks relief. As a clinician, I consider prognosis, and I have come to understand that the higher the patient buy-in, the higher on the Likert Scale of 1-10 correlates to affirmative discharge from services. I believe that we are here to: get in, assess, address, process, maintain, and confirm. I believe I can do that with most anyone -- online in the state of Florida.
