I am a licensed marriage and family therapist in California and Texas. I have 14 years of experience working with a diverse population of individuals. I have worked in community mental health, public schools, corrections facilities, the hospital setting, and as an EAP provider. I am most passionate about working with the younger generation as I feel like that is where the most change and progress can be made. I would love to be a positive influence in the next generation.
During the first session, I will be getting to know the client by asking them a series of questions to learn more about their background and history and to build the therapist-client relationship.
My greatest strengths as a provider are my ability to be warm and empathetic. I am able to build rapport rather quickly with my clients and have been told by some that I am "relatable." I use humor to keep things light during session which allows the client's to feel more comfortable.
I have been using solution focused therapy for years with my clients and have found it to be effective, because we focus on identifying the problem, setting goals, and setting a timeline that the goals will be reached. This is usually in 6-10 sessions. We focus heavily on learning, practicing, and applying coping skills outside of session to help expedite the process of healing and growing.
