I am a LPC in the state of Texas for 15 years. My experience has been around adults at various times in their lives. I have worked with those who have suffered from depression/anxiety/bipolar, substance abuse, grief, and trauma. I also have worked with those who just needed a little help to figure out how to best manage the stress in their life.
I want a thorough understanding of how long this has been going on and what the goals are for therapy. I want my client to know that there is someone who can sit with them and think outside of the box to help see things differently. I do expect for clients to practice skills that we talk about in session.
My strength as a therapist has been able to really identify skills that are tailored to my client and meets them where they are at in life. If things are continuing to not work, lets find other opportunities. I genuinely believe counseling does not have to be a lifetime process. Come in and get what you need then come back when you need a tune up.
I find this form of modality helps various clients because this modality provides skills and tools to manage what is going on with the client.
