Hi, I’m Dr. Viviana Garza, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) . I believe that therapy can be a meaningful space to pause, reflect, heal, and reconnect with the parts of yourself that may have been overlooked while caring for others or navigating life’s challenges. I enjoy working with women, young adults, older adults, and individuals with Autism who are facing anxiety, trauma, relationship difficulties, life transitions, grief, or questions about identity and purpose. Whether you are adjusting to perimenopause or menopause, coping with stress, wanting to improve your relationships, or simply feeling stuck, therapy can offer support and direction. My style is warm, compassionate, and collaborative. I strive to create a space where you feel comfortable being yourself and talking openly about what is on your mind. Together, we will explore the patterns, experiences, and beliefs that may be affecting your well-being, while building practical tools to help you feel stronger, more confident, and more connected.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During our first session, we will take time to get to know one another and discuss what brings you to therapy. You’ll have the opportunity to share your concerns, your goals, and any important life experiences that may be affecting your well-being. We will explore what you hope to gain from therapy and begin identifying the best path forward based on your unique needs. My goal is to create a warm, supportive space where you feel comfortable being yourself. You do not need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. The first session is simply a conversation designed to help us understand your story, clarify your goals, and determine how we can work together to help you feel better, gain insight, and create meaningful change in your life.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I combine warmth, curiosity, and practical tools to help you create meaningful change. I believe therapy should feel both supportive and effective, a place where you feel truly heard and understood while also gaining insights and strategies you can use in everyday life. Clients often tell me they appreciate having a space where they feel safe, accepted, and encouraged to explore their thoughts and emotions without judgment. My goal is to help you not only feel better, but also understand yourself more deeply, heal from what has been holding you back, and move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and emotional well-being.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am best positioned to support women, young adults, individuals in the later stages of life, and individuals with autism who are navigating life transitions, relationship concerns, challenges with self-esteem, emotional well-being, and personal growth. I work with clients who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, social difficulties, identity development, and changes related to aging, including perimenopause, menopause, retirement, and shifting family roles.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I help clients: 1. Recognize negative or distorted thinking patterns 2. Understand how thoughts influence emotions and behaviors 3. Develop healthier perspectives 4. Learn practical coping skills and problem-solving strategies 5. Practice behavioral changes that improve mood and functioning. CBT is structured, goal-oriented, and focuses on helping clients achieve measurable progress in daily life.

Attachment-based

I help clients: 1. Understand how childhood experiences influence current relationships 2. Identify attachment patterns (secure, anxious, avoidant, disorganized) 3. Heal relational wounds 4. Build trust and emotional safety 5. Develop healthier connections with partners, family members, and themselves. This approach is useful for individuals with relationship problems, couples therapy and trauma work.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)- I use EMDR to help clients: 1. Reprocess traumatic memories 2. Reduce emotional triggers 3. Resolve negative beliefs such as “I am not good enough” or “I am unsafe” 4. Improve emotional regulation 5. Increase resilience and confidence. EMDR is effective for trauma, anxiety, grief, and adverse childhood experiences.

Positive Psychology

I help clients: 1. Identify personal strengths and values 2. Cultivate gratitude and optimism 3. Build self-compassion 4. Increase life satisfaction 5. Develop a sense of purpose and fulfillment. This approach is especially helpful for clients seeking personal growth, improved confidence, and emotional balance.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I incorporate person-centered concepts to help clients: 1. Feel heard, understood, and accepted in a safe and nonjudgmental environment. 2. Explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences at their own pace. 3. Increase self-awareness and insight into their personal challenges. 4. Build self-confidence and trust in their own ability to make decisions. 5. Identify personal strengths and internal resources. 6. Develop greater self-acceptance and self-compassion. 7. Clarify values, goals, and the direction they want to take in life. 8. Strengthen autonomy and a sense of empowerment. 9. Foster healing through authentic, empathetic, and collaborative relationships. Person-Centered Therapy is foundational to my work and reflects my belief that each individual has an inherent capacity for growth, resilience, and positive change when provided with empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuine support.
