My name is Dr. Steven Mehl and I have been a licensed Clinical Psychologist in the state of Pennsylvania since July of 2016. I have worked primarily in college counseling centers as well as in nursing and rehabilitation facilities. In addition, I have worked for over a decade with adults of varying abilities who carry a diagnosis of developmental (autism spectrum) and/or intellectual disabilities. I have also gained some experience working with individuals struggling with drug and alcohol addiction while working at an outpatient treatment center. I have worked with individuals of all different ages and backgrounds and have enjoyed helping them address different psychological and general life issues. I practice primarily cognitive-behavioral (CBT) therapy, while also utilizing some alternative approaches. As a therapist, I strive to help clients by first establishing a sense of their background and aspects of their current motivation. It is this motivation that will help to propel the therapeutic process forward and ensure that you, the client, are the one who is in control.
As a client you can expect to be given time and space to clearly communicate the issues that you are facing. Therapy goals and sessions will be collaborative and I will always do my best to help you understand the direction of therapy, the steps that we will be taking and how all of this fits together.
I utilize primarily cognitive-behavioral (CBT) interventions along with approaches adopted from ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy) and humanistic psychology (i.e. client-centered).
I have worked with clients dealing with issues related to anxiety, depression, anger, guilt, loss, focus issues, motivation issues, relationship issues, etc...
