Freddie Eugene Williams, LMFT, LAADC. I'm a California and Arizona Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Also, I am a Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor, specializing in addictions. Self-care, self-awareness, relationships, and behavior change are the most important aspects of mental wellness and recovery. Adult Men, I will meet you where you are on your healing journey, explore your mental wellness goals, and help you improve the quality of your life.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session will primarily focus on gathering information that helps me get an idea of what brought you into therapy and what are your therapy expectations. I will explain my credentials and scope of practice and training, therapy practice policies, mandatory disclosure forms, limits of confidentiality as well as building trust and rapport as we explore the current issues impacting your life.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have both lived and educational experience. I have compassion and empathy for my clients because I have walked in their shoes. I am non-judgmental and I understand the levels of insecurity, toxic-shame, guilt and most of all self-centered fear. I have suffered from these same self-destructive mental and emotional disorders. Experience is my greatest teacher and strength.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I utilize the CBT type of psychotherapy for my addiction clients, anxiety, depression and anger management clients as well. CBT focuses on identifying negative thinking patterns and changing unwanted behaviors (simply said: how you think, is how you feel and that determines how you are going to act, react, respond or behave). One of the main components of CBT is individual therapy sessions and homework to help you practice new skills inside and outside their treatment sessions.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

DBT is a behavior change therapy. Together, we will process, I will teach, and role play this coping skills building curriculum to help people who have difficulty with emotional regulation and self-destructive behaviors (such as substance use disorders). This type of therapy is also used to treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and borderline personality disorder (BPD). Its main goals are to teach people how to live in the moment, develop healthy ways to cope with stress, regulate their emotions, and improve their relationships with others.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I make use of (SFBT) because it is a therapeutic approach that emphasizes clients’ strengths and resources to create positive change. We will focus on present and future goals rather than past problems. It’s brief, goal-oriented, and emphasizes solutions rather than delving into underlying causes and issues.
