I am a Clinical Social Worker who has been in the field for over 20 years. I have worked with most populations and crisis situations and come to therapy with diverse experience. I am a patient therapist and I take my time to understand the needs of my clients. I am committed to improving the lives of others and ensuring my clients access to quality behavioral health treatment.
During the first session, I prefer to maintain a light atmosphere. I engage my clients in conversation to introduce myself and learn more about them and their needs. I seek to build the foundation of a safe space so clients feel comfortable to open up about their symptoms and what they seek from my services moving forward.
My experiences as a social worker have prepared me to work with a diverse set of clients. During my career as a therapist in correctional institutions, I have been exposed to men and women with various diagnoses and support needs. I am invested in developing positive change in my client's life and take my role in the process seriously.
Although I employ a number of treatment modalities to work with clients, I believe that CBT is one of the most effective. Clients come to therapy to change unwanted symptoms. These symptoms can frequently be traced back to negative or disruptive thoughts. Helping my clients change these thoughts will lead to shifts in behavior and decreased symptoms.
