About me

I am a licensed professional counselor looking to help others find their full potential by using an eclectic approach to therapy. If you find yourself aimlessly scrolling through profiles in search of an authentic therapist, I may be a great fit for you. I find that being authentic with clients is what helps them build a foundation and feel safe enough to share their issues and concerns. I practice from a person-centered approach while mixing in elements of CBT to help clients guide their treatment while also holding them accountable. I specialize in the use of art therapy to help clients communicate and process various topics that may be difficult to speak about. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, issues with substance abuse, or relationship issues, I'm here to help. Throughout my career in therapy, I have focused on treatment of Veterans, first responders, and those who have experienced trauma. Seeking treatment can be difficult, but if you've already taken this first step in searching for a therapist then you've likely already identified that this is something you can benefit from with the right help. If you've been reading this far and I seem like a good fit for you, let's work together!

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session will consist of gaining basic information so that I can work on customized goals to best fit client needs. The first session allows time for clients to ask questions and assess if I am a good therapeutic fit for their needs. In this session, I am open to questions about my therapeutic background as I believe it is important for clients to understand how I utilize different modalities and trainings that I may have.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My biggest strength is my ability to be open and honest with clients. I am upfront about maintaining accountability and work best with clients who are determined to make changes. Another strength is my ability to utilize different approaches depending on the needs of each client. No two clients are the same, so everyone will need a different treatment approach. Each session will be catered to the client, and you will not be experiencing the "cookie cutter" therapy questions while in session with me. I have is a background in training in multicultural competency, allowing me to specialize in treatment according to each client's lens through which they view the world. It is not your job as a client to tell me what it is like to walk in your shoes, it's my job as a therapist to do the research and better understand what life looks like from your specific lens to better help you meet your goals.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work with anyone above the age of 18 who may be struggling with a wide variety of issues. I specialize in treatment of anxiety, depression, substance use disorders, and trauma. I have extensive training with the Veteran and first responder populations. I am an integrative mental health professional and work well with those who have a desire to rework multiple parts of their lives, including mind, body, and spirit.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I utilize CBT to assist clients with identifying underlying thoughts that cause problematic behaviors. Most times, we are unable to determine the root cause of problematic behaviors, I find that this modality assists clients with understanding why we may do some of the things that we do. Once that is determined, I assist in reframing thoughts to resolves the problem behaviors.

Trauma Informed Care

In order to effectively treat clients, I utilized a trauma informed approach in order to assist in identifying underlying trauma that could be impacting present day issues. By using a trauma informed approach, this prevents clients from feeling triggered and helps them better understand current issues that are occurring in their lives. This approach does not include retelling traumatic details or going through trauma narrative in detail, something that can often be triggering.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I utilized ACT by focusing on radical acceptance. There are many things within all of our lives that we struggle to accept, which often holds us back and causes built up anger and frustration. By use of acceptance, clients are often able to let go of things they have no control of and move forward in their lives.

I've had two sessions so far and I feel like they've gone well. I wanted a space where I could openly talk through some of my thought processes and in that regard, it has been extremely beneficial. I'm given enough time to air out my thoughts without interruption with I enjoy. As of right now I'm continuing my sessions and being able to have an understanding outside perspective is exactly what I was looking for in a therapist.
