LPC, 10 years of experience
I'm Gloria Gonzalez, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Texas, and my foundational belief is that your therapy should never be one-size-fits-all. Every person—regardless of their age, background, or ethnicity—brings a unique set of challenges and, more importantly, unique strengths to the table. As a Spanish speaker, I am also committed to ensuring that individuals and families can seek help and express themselves in the language they feel most comfortable with.
Your first session or consultation is a chance for us to connect and for you to get a real feel for how we can work together. During the session itself, I'll introduce myself and share a little bit about my background, therapeutic style, and the techniques I use. We'll also cover the practice's protocols and expectations so everything is clear. The most important part is hearing from you. We'll spend time discussing what brings you to therapy right now and what you hope to achieve—your goals. We'll finish up by discussing scheduling and answering any questions you have for me.
There is not a specific type of therapeutic style or approach that works for everyone: age, ethnicity, all of this may play a part into stressors and how we cope with them. Therefore, the services are built around the individual's or family's needs, focusing on strengths and values. I believe there is nothing we can’t overcome and the first step is seeking help. Therapy is about acquiring the tools we need when faced with adversity. If you’re reading this, then you’re already on your way to change. Life is full of challenges, struggles, and stressful situations. I provide strength-based therapeutic approaches & techniques such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Dialectical-Behavior Therapy, and Solution-Focused.
I build our sessions around you, using an integrated mix of proven, evidence-based tools like Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical-Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused approaches. My fundamental belief is simple: there is nothing we can’t overcome. If you’re reading this, you’ve already taken the courageous first step toward change. It's a huge privilege to sit with clients and witness their resilience. We all carry the weight of past trauma or loss, and we’ve all developed ways to cope. I don't see those strategies as failures; I see them as evidence of your inner strength. In our time together, we’ll work to honor your journey, let go of the coping methods that no longer serve you, and actively acquire the tools you need to navigate the next challenge life throws your way.
It's common for all of us to have experienced trauma or significant loss. In response, we've naturally developed coping strategies to help us move forward. We understand that some of these strategies are helpful and sustaining, while others may now be creating roadblocks. Together, we will gently explore what those strategies are and discover healthy, practical ways for you to embrace acceptance and confidently move forward in your life.
