My name is Gwendolyn and I am Licensed Professional Counselor with over 6 years of experience working in the mental health field. I believe that understanding how your mind works is a powerful step toward change. Together, we’ll explore patterns, build coping skills, and create space for healing so you can begin to feel more grounded, confident, and in control. As your therapist, my goal is to empower you to create a life that aligns with who you are and what truly matters to you. I’m here to support you in developing skills that allow you to navigate life's challenges. I work with adolescents and adults facing a range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, trauma, OCD, substance misuse, anger, self-esteem challenges, and life transitions. My approach is collaborative, strength-based, and fit for you, drawing from evidence-based modalities such as EMDR, CBT, DBT, and incorporating play and expressive arts therapy when appropriate.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

The first session is the information stage. This allows me to get to know you, your story, mental health history, current concerns, what brings you to therapy, and what you're hoping to gain from attending therapy. This session is not about having all the answers, it's a chance for us to get to know each other and share at your own pace. We will review expectations for therapy and discuss how we can work together in a way that feels aligned with your needs. My goal is to create a supportive, safe, and nonjudgemental space where you feel comfortable getting started.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I create a safe, supportive space where you can show up as your authentic self. We will go at your pace and tailor sessions to your individual needs. I see clients on the weekends so that access to mental health services doesn’t feel limited to the work week. I strongly believe in client empowerment. You are the expert on your life, and my role is to support and advocate for you as we work toward your goals. Using a blend of CBT and DBT, I help you develop practical tools to better manage emotions, challenge unhelpful thought patterns, and build skills that support lasting change. I also incorporate therapeutic art-making interventions when appropriate or when it aligns with your preferences, offering additional ways to process and express your experiences.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Adolescents and young adults navigating life transitions can find themselves feeling overwhelmed and unsure of where to go- this is where I come in. Therapy can be a great tool to discovery yourself, your wants and needs, and future short and long term goals. I have history of working with clients having difficulty navigating life challenges associated with experiencing symptoms from ADHD, OCD, depression, and anxiety. I teach my clients the skills that they need to make healthy connects -both in relationships and in thought processing. I become a part of your support network.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I help my clients develop the skills nessary to challenge negative thinking patterns to promote new, helpful thoughts that allow them to feel confident and reduce distress. I use this technique almost daily for myself and for clients.

EMDR

I am newly trained with EMDR, however this treatment method has been proven to improve mental well-being of clients who have experienced trauma.

Strength-Based

Understanding your strengths can help build confidence and empower you to build the life that aligns with you. By exploring and identifying these, we can learn how to implement them into daily life to work towards our goals, not against.
