Hello, I am Rosalyn Bowie, a compassionate, Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist specializing in helping adults, couples, families, and teenagers overcome depression, anxiety, and trauma. I am committed to guiding individuals towards resilience, healing, and restoration. My approach integrates evidence-based techniques, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic, Gottman, Christian Counseling and family systems therapy. I believe in the power of resilience. Life's challenges may leave us feeling lost and overwhelmed, but with guidance and support, we can navigate the depths and rediscover our strength.
During the first session, I review the informed consent that the client has completed before the session. I listen to the client explain what brought he or she to therapy. Afterwards, I discuss the modality, structure of the session, confidentiality and how I work with clients before I ask questions on depression and anxiety to make a diagnosis. I finish the biopsychosocial by having the client give an introduction of self and explore more the issues that brought the client to counseling. I end the session by assigning homework to make 1-3 goals and schedule the next session.
Having worked with adults, adolescents, couples and families for over 4 years, I've developed a tried-and-true playbook for helping clients identify the root cause of their challenges and create a tailored plan that leads to measurable progress.
I help clients capture their negative automatic thoughts and beliefs to create new thoughts that results in new neural pathways to change how you think and feel about yourself.
In addition to being a LPC, I am also a Licensed Marriage and Family Counselor (LMFT). I have worked with couples for over 3 years using the Gottman Method and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help improve dynamics between partners and addressing issues like communication breakdowns, trust, conflict resolution, intimacy concerns, and life transitions that may affect the relationship.
I use this modality to look at core beliefs originating in childhood, to understand present behavior and emotional challenges. I help clients bring unconscious feelings and conflicts to consciousness level, to help clients gain insight, resolve deep-rooted issues, and improve psychological functioning.
I am EMDRIA EMDR trained. EMDR is used to treat PTSD, anxiety, depression and trauma. I have used EMDR to help clients process disturbing experiences that are improperly stored in the brain, leading to ongoing emotional and psychological and physical symptoms.
I use Structural Family Therapy to improve how family members interact with each other by identifying and restructuring the family dynamics that contribute to problems. I help clients tackle family problems by looking at the structure of the family, roles, and boundaries to reorganize these structures to improve communication, resolve conflicts and promote healthier interactions.
