Hi! I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in California. Don't be fooled by my license, I don't only work with couples and families. As a matter of fact, I work mostly with individuals. I have been in the field for 6 years working with teens, young adults and adults in their mid-life. I help clients struggling with anxiety, stress, life changes and transitions, and depression/loss. Together we will find solutions, understanding, and growth so that you can become the best version of yourself.
In our first session together, we will see if I am a good fit for you through starting to build our relationship. I will also ask questions (probably a lot at first) to see what challenges you are facing and what outcomes and solutions you are hoping you will find by coming to counseling. With this information, we will create a plan on how best we can use our time together to achieve the things you want for the most ideal outcome from our sessions.
The foundation of my practice, no matter what your need is, starts with empathy, warmth, and allowing you to be in the driver's seat. My training and experience has afforded me the opportunity to gain skills and techniques, and I will offer these to you, but ultimately, it is you who will be in control and determine where we go in our time together. I will challenge you when appropriate, but also be there to encourage you and validate and/or affirm you as you grow and change.
I believe that you hold the tools and answers to find what is going to work to overcome. It is my role to help you discover those tools and options.
Information and understanding on what is happening that causes your challenges, symptoms and barriers to a happier life is important. CBT provides how the brain, behavior and feelings all work together.
I have been trained in spiritual practices and therefore feel comfortable if my clients want to invite into our sessions their faith, beliefs, and spiritual practices. We do not need to align on our spiritual practices, I welcome all faiths and beliefs. The session(s) are for you, and I want to open the space so that you can feel comfortable bringing that into session.
I use Person-centered therapy to facilitate growth and fulfillment by way of acceptance, therapist congruence (genuineness) and empathetic understanding.
In session, we will focus on your strengths, desires, interests, aspirations, abilities and knowledge. I will support you as you learn to apply change through a strength-based lens.
