I'm Cheryl Polyudhapoom. I'm a daughter, sister, wife, & mother to a beautiful child. I have worked with children, youth, and families involved with the foster care system for 15 years. During that time I worked with Educational Professionals, Law Enforcement, and supervised Social Workers. I have lived in Los Angeles, San Jose, Monterey, and Bakersfield, CA which has provided me with experience in working with various populations and communities throughout California. I've started my own private practice because I’m committed to helping adults learn how to build healthier relationships, be free from trauma, and to overall learn how to manage their mental health. My work focuses on targeting negative behaviors, habits, and thoughts. I believe in utilizing multiple modalities in treatment to help clients reach their goals, but my primary approach in treatment is through the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). If you’re struggling to cope with grief and loss, I can help you navigate these feelings and offer a path forward. I provide a safe and welcoming environment so you can share your thoughts and fears freely. I am here to offer you support, comfort, and hope in moving forward. Life isn't easy. So don't do it alone. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker(LCSW) in the State of California. LCSW's are Social Workers trained to diagnose and treat mental health issues and substance misuse with psychotherapy and counseling. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology with a Minor in Asian American Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and a Master's Degree in Social Work with an emphasis in Children, Youth, and Families from San Jose State University. I provide both In-Person & Tele-Therapy available.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session I will spend the first half asking you general background information to get a foundation and some context as to what we will be working on and discussing during therapy. During the second half I like to discuss why you're seeking therapy currently and then dive into things.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I pride myself on being able to create a safe and welcoming environment with people starting starting at our first session. Starting therapy with someone you don't know can be very intimidating, so I try to do what I can to ensure that the experience is one that is easy, comfortable, and safe.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

Adults 18+ are my ideal patients. However, I've worked with PT's as young as 8 years old and up to 90 years old. I currently prefer working with adults only at this time.
