Hi there, my name is Anna, I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of Indiana. Taking that first step to finding a counselor can be extremely hard in more ways than many can imagine. I get it. If you're looking for a counselor who is laid back and easy to speak with we may be a good fit. I believe talking things out with someone who is open to hearing anything you may have to say and not passing judgment is a rare find, but I am someone who is very accepting of going over some of the things that you may have a hard time discussing with others. I am one who will work to keep the mood light when needed but also provide the space to experience emotions without shame. During those times of processing I like to utilize the last few minutes of session to debrief, wind down, and possibly experience some laughter prior ending session so you are able to leave feeling better.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session will be a meet-and-greet with me asking a lot of questions about you, but this also is a time for you to ask me questions and gauge if you feel we are a good fit. Feeling comfortable and at ease is one of the most important parts of successful counseling, so if you ever feel we are not a good fit, I will assist in finding someone you may fit better with.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As the clinician I try to ensure each session is tailored to assist the client in what is needed at that time. We will work as a team to identify areas of challenge as well as construct treatment goals to assist with reducing those challenges. I tend to be a laid back individual and most sessions will be conversational, however I am a clinician that will challenge clients when needed to continue to grow.

My treatment methods

Narrative

I use a foundation of Narrative therapy meaning that everyone has a story and that some stories need to be told and maybe even retold so that they can be reviewed and looked at from different perspectives. I do incorporate skills from CBT and many other approaches but what is utilized in each session is based on you, the client. I however am not one who assigns "homework", unless you want it, we are all already busy with life so at times adding "homework" can be a stressor on top of it all.

Eclectic

While my foundation is Narrative there are many other areas that I pull from to assist the client to best fit them. Areas I pull from mainly outside of Narrative are CBT, DBT, Gottman Couples (Level 3 trained), Family Systems, and SFBT. I continue to seek out trainings to continue to stay on top of the skills needed to best assist the client.
