I am a dedicated and passionate social worker who has committed my career to helping others. I have experience with adolescents, adults, and elder adults and truly enjoy working with the life span. I believe my strongest asset is my ability to connect with others, as a therapist my goal is for us to build a connection together that allows trust, honesty, and communication to meet whatever your goals may be. I feel that therapy does not have to be the intense, Freudian, dissection of each thought that can be depicted in movies. Rather, that often the best therapeutic experiences involve a mixture of supported listening, active coping skill implementation and personal reflection. I utilize strengths-based approaches including ACT, CBT, DBT skills, and more, to create plans for growth that fit your unique needs and give you solutions and skills for everyday life.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I often describe the first session as paperwork session, a necessary part of starting our time together! What you can expect is an introduction from me and an initial discussion of whats disclosed on your intake paperwork and/or current symptoms. I review all of my policies and make sure we both have a mutual understanding of what to expect from the therapeutic process moving forward. My ultimate goal is for you to leave the session feeling comfortable, and informed.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a provider I take my greatest strengths from my client feedback over the years. I have learned that my strengths include open-mindedness and non-judgement, and being overall easy to speak to. That I can address trauma and challenging situations in a way that is both direct and caring. Clients also have appreciated my honesty and style of communication. Clients feel supported and cared for by me, and confidence in my skills.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive behavioral therapy is considered a gold standard of evidence-based practice, meaning its been proven to work for many mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, other mood disorders, and more. Cognitive behavioral therapy focuses on three domains of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and how these domains influence each other. I find that CBT is most effective when supported with a trauma-informed perspective, and skills from DBT and ACT to further address emotional regulation and other needs.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Depending on what is bringing you to therapy, solution focused treatments can address the current challenges you're experiencing with real time solutions and interventions. This means we focus less on the past, and more on the present and active coping skill development. Brief treatment means something different for everyone and I believe in routine conversations around progress and timelines in order for us to make a plan that achieves the most change possible, while moving at your pace.

Trauma Informed Care

I utilize trauma informed care through all methodologies and interventions. I believe that being trauma informed is essential in any therapeutic relationship, and I have years of trauma informed treatment experience and education. I have been trained and certified in Phase 1 of the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics developed by world trauma expert Dr. Bruce Perry.
