Hi! I'm a Licensed Clinical Professional Counsellor (LCPC) based in Illinois. I received my Masters from the Roosevelt University and have been practicing for 10 years. I help adolescents, families and adults struggling with big feelings or barriers that are not allowing them to live their happiest, healthiest life. I help individuals better understanding their feelings and offer support in making meaningful change and identify ways to problem-solve and move forward. I practice from a behavioral perspective and believe that every behavior has a purpose even if that purpose is not obvious. With the help of my clients, I work to understand the function of the behavior and then help my clients to acquire the necessary skills to have their needs met more appropriately. I believe that rapport and the therapeutic relationship are critical to be successful in providing support to my clients. I thrive on incorporating creative, unique, and idiosyncratic interventions to make the therapeutic process meaningful for the individual client. Through compassion, empathy, and understanding, I help ymy clients be the best version of themselves and thrive!
In our first session together, we will start with a brief introduction and then talk through what prompted you to seek support at this time. This information helps me to create a tailored plans or helps inform exploration discussions in follow-up sessions. I believe that a strong foundation of rapport is critical in our work together and prioritized that during initial sessions.
In addition to being a licensed counselor, I also hold the certification of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. This additional certification allows me the unique perspective of practicing from a science-based behavioral lens and blending two professional fields to provide support to clients and their family. I specialize and have extensive experience working with individuals on the Autism Spectrum. I love supporting these individuals to thrive in a neurotypical world while also embracing the wonderful and unique characteristics that make them who they are. I also know that processing the diagnosis of Autism can be difficult for parents and caregivers. I offer support with navigating this information and how it might impact the way you parent your child from their worldview.
I utilize an eclectic therapeutic approach that meets my clients where they are at. My eclectic approach includes aspects from the following approaches: Cognitive Behavioral, Emotionally Focused, Humanistic, Mindfulness, Narrative, Psychoeducation, and Solution Focused. I work with my clients firstly to create a solid foundation through rapport and building a relationship. I then work with my client to identifying specific challenge in their daily life and the barriers that they experience on a consistent basis. I believe that understanding challenges and barriers are critical in order to best understand how to intervene in a way that will be successful. I work with clients on becoming aware of unproductive thought patterns and how those thoughts impact their life. I help clients to identify negative thinking and reshaping it in a way that changes how they feel. I then collaborate with clients on what new behavior would benefit them and identify how to put them into practice in their day to day lives.
