January 1, 2020 I celebrated the new year with friends and family. Like many of you, I had a whole laundry list of resolutions for how to "live my best life," while juggling family and a career. That all came to a screeching halt as schools, businesses, and communities shut down across the country due to COVID-19. And like you, I had to completely re-evaluate my personal and professional life and make a whole new list of priorities. The Pandemic may be over, but many are still fighting an epidemic of anxiety, depression, self-doubt, lost intimacy, and social isolation. I began private practice in 2021 as part of my commitment to helping people and organizations to accelerate healing and growth from our collective trauma (with a Big "T"). My vision is centered on "helping clients live the lives they want and love the lives they live." My approach combines Cognitive Behavioral, Narrative, and Solution-Focused therapies with training in Emotion Focused, Gottman, and Sex Therapy. My work centers cultural humility - I listen and seek to understand clients' beliefs and experiences, clarify goals and, importantly, find solutions to life’s challenges.
In our first session, we will spend about an hour getting to know each other better. During that time, I will conduct a structured interview (extensive biopsychosocial-spiritual-cultural assessment) and discuss results of other assessment tools that you will complete in advance of our appointment. We will discuss what brings you to therapy at this particular point in time, your goals, and begin work on developing a solution-focused roadmap to achieving those goals.
My greatest strength is that I am both a clinician and a scientist - I bring the best of both worlds to my practice. As your future provider, my "toolbox" contains advanced knowledge and skills, creativity, empathy, humility, and evidence-based standards and interventions. I will help you discover the tools needed to reinvent your life scripts and build roadmaps to personal and professional transformation.
I have advanced training in CBT approaches. Clients can expect to receive homework and in-session practice that will focus on changing outdated thought patterns, build emotional regulation skills, and transform behaviors and lifestyle.
I have extensive training in attachment and neuroscience. This training pairs well with the EFT concepts and principles I have acquired over the past couple of years as I work through the EFT certification process.
I have completed Gottman Levels 1-3 training and love using this approach with couples.
I have completed training and earned degrees in biology, education, social work, and public health, as well as training in urology, mindfulness, and men's and women's health. All clients are encouraged to collaborate with their physicians and other health providers to ensure that they are in a state of optimal health as we work on rebuilding their cognitive/psychological/emotional/behavioral health and wellbeing.
I have completed trainings in Narrative Therapy and integrate this approach into my broader approach with individuals, couples, and groups.
