Hello! I use a collaborative and strengths-based approach with each of my clients. I have years of experience working with Client's and Families/Couple's from working in both mental health treatment facilities and outpatient private practice. I integrate a variety of evidenced-based treatment interventions to address behavioral health issues, including Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Twelve-Step Facilitation Therapy, Psychodynamics and Dialectic Behavioral Therapy.
In our first session together, we will have a brief introduction before beginning to explore the challenges that are bringing you to therapy. A treatment plan and coping skills to begin moving towards mental health recovery will be covered in an initial session as well.
Throughout my clinical practice I have been privileged to walk alongside both individuals and families as they seek to courageously encounter their vulnerabilities. I am committed to generating a respectful, empathic, and collaborative therapeutic environment in which clients are able to cultivate personal growth and self-awareness.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an effective combination of talk therapy and behavioral therapy. CBT is a type of psychotherapy in which patients reframe negative thinking patterns into positive thoughts. Transforming one’s thoughts will ultimately result in positive actions and behaviors in difficult moments. CBT can be useful to individuals suffering from addiction, eating disorders, depression, and anxiety. During CBT, patients have the opportunity to work with a therapist to find the source of negative thinking and transform those thoughts into a positive, growth mindset. The ultimate goal of CBT is to replace negative thoughts and actions with productive behaviors that make the individual feel equipped to overcome any difficult moment. Individuals will recognize how their thinking influences their emotions and will establish personalized coping mechanisms. Working with a therapist to find effective and personalized coping mechanisms will ultimately help individuals identify and manage thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in real-world situations.
Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) is an effective combination of cognitive and behavioral therapies. The goal of DBT is to transform negative thinking patterns and destructive behaviors into positive outcomes. The effectiveness of DBT has been shown to help people regulate their emotions, build self-management skills, reduce anxiety and stress, and control destructive behaviors. DBT is a researched-based way to establish coping mechanisms to implement in environments that may elicit old, destructive patterns.
