LMFT, 8 years of experience
Welcome—I’m Sam Moglen, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) providing therapy for individuals and couples in Berkeley, CA, and throughout California via online sessions. Whether you’re struggling with grief, anxiety, depression, or relationship challenges, therapy can help you find clarity and feel more connected to yourself and those around you. I am trained in a range of modalities including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), the Rest and Restore Protocol, the Safe and Sound Protocol, Polyvagal Theory, and somatic therapy approaches in a way that feels safe and comfortable for you.
Our first meeting is really about starting a conversation. I’ll invite you to share what brought you in, what you hope to get out of therapy, and a bit of your background. Just as important, you’ll get a feel for my style and whether it feels like a good fit for you. Think of it less as an interview and more as a chance to begin building a safe and supportive connection.
I believe therapy offers something rare in daily life: a space to slow down, reflect, and connect more deeply with yourself. Whether you’re facing grief, anxiety, or relational challenges, I consider it an honor to accompany people through difficult seasons and witness their growth.
Clients often describe my style as warm, present, and collaborative. I see therapy as a partnership—we work together to better understand what you’re carrying and explore new ways forward. While I bring tools and perspective, I also trust your innate resilience and ability to create lasting change.
Somatic therapy is rooted in somatic psychology, a body-oriented approach to psychology. Somatic therapies work by addressing the feedback loop that continually runs between the mind and the body.
I have used EMDR for several months and use it in a safe comfortable space for clients.
I have been using the principles of polyvagal theory for two years to support clients in understanding their nervous system to improve their mental health and wellbeing.
