Hi, I'm Anitalyn (like Anita and Lyn put together in one word). I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 17 years experience helping people become the best version of themself. We all need help at one time or another, though I know asking for it can be really hard for some of us. I strive to be approachable, friendly, funny, and always non-judgmental. I look at the big picture, considering all the factors that are affecting you.
During our first session together my entire focus will be to try to understand you, big picture and small. I have an insatiable curiosity about others. Until I have a really clear picture of you and your situation in my head, we can't move forward. But if you aren't even sure what your situation is, that's okay, I'm really good at helping you figure that out!
I am very down to earth, and positive and optimistic. I value people. I can see the big picture better than most, and I always focus on the whole person. After all, everything we encounter in life affects us, how can we not look at it all? I like unconventional approaches, such as, perhaps we will pull a Tarot card or two for you, to prompt a discussion.
Humanistic Theory has been my go-to since I learned about it in graduate school. Everybody wants to feel seen and heard, valued, and loved.
Learning how our upbringing affects us today, for the better and the worse, is so helpful!
My down-to-earth and direct approach lends itself well to reality therapy, helping people understand and face the reality of their current situation.
To me, person-centered and humanistic theory are two sides of the same coin. Both focus on honoring the person you are.
Looking at our attachment styles and how they relate to our current selves is fascinating and eye opening.
