I I have been in practice as a licensed psychologist for over 23 years and have worked in a variety of settings with diverse clientele. I completed my predoctoral internship at the University of Missouri at Kansas City Counseling and Testing Center, working with students and faculty providing individual, couples, and group therapy. I also engaged in outreach activities to promote mental health awareness in the university community. During my postdoctoral internship at Miami County Mental Health Center, I treated children, adolescents, and adults presenting with a wide range of issues and challenges. I enjoyed working with clients of diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and community backgrounds.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first appointment, I get to know you by discussing your presenting issues and history. We work towards establishing a therapeutic relationship and discuss your goals for treatment.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am open-minded, flexible, compassionate, and knowledgeable. I tailor treatment to each client to meet their mental health needs.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use cognitive behavioral therapy to help clients develop more insight into how their thoughts, feelings, and emotions interconnect. Clients learn how to identify and challenge negative thoughts and reframe them into more positive, realistic thoughts.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I use mindfulness-based therapy to help clients to incorporate mindfulness practices into their daily life to increase insight, decrease stress, and reduce overall symptoms.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

I use culturally sensitive therapy to help clients increase insight and understanding of how a client's cultural background (e.g., race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, or other important elements that create a client's culture and/or identity) affect the way they think, feel, and behave.
