I am licensed independent social worker in the state of Ohio with a supervisory designation (LISW-S). I began working with the severe and mentally ill population within a homeless shelter at age 21. I discovered a love for helping and decided to pursue a career as a clinical psychotherapist. I obtained a degree from the University of Toledo with Master of Social Work, specializing in clinical mental health and a minor in psychology. Throughout the years I have gained experience working in a variety of setting addressing mental health. The settings include dialysis clinics, military, chronic homelessness, and corrections. Rather you are struggling with a new onset of neurosis, or your long-term symptoms have begun to exacerbate; I will ensure there is a safe space to discuss any problems in a judgement free zone utilizing individualized specific treatment plans, not simple advice. I will utilize a variety of approaches to empower you with tools needed to take significant life steps. Ultimately, to reach a goal you desire.
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.
I primarily focus on helping adult individuals. Rather it be a neurotic disorder, a mood disorder, a psychosis, or something less complex. I have focused my therapeutic education on clinical adult mental health specifically. I utilize system theory, cognitive behavior theory, dialectical behavioral theory, and empowerment theory. All of these concepts I have studied throughout my college career into post-graduate trainings. Each plays an important part throughout the therapeutic process and are utilize interchangeably.
(PLEASE OHIO CLIENTS ONLY) I would like to focus on individual adults with neurotic, mood, or relationship issues. I am also willing to take individual with a long history of mental illness. I am willing to work with couples as well.
After identified within session, I use cognitive behavior therapy to address root causes driven by a core belief. I have experience using CBT methods throughout my college career into my professional career. CBT was one of the first modalities that I strove to learn and implement within my practice.
I utilize dialectical behavior therapy to engage the client in learning mindfulness exercises, distress tolerance skills, emotional regulation skills and interpersonal communication skills.
