Hello, my name is Robert. If you are like other people and feeling the pressures of everyday life then the stress from the cares of attempting to live a normal life are working overtime. The pace today is more hectic. People need help. Everyone deserves a safe place and a stable environment. I find the most effective ways to help people feel comfortable with therapy is a welcoming attitude with curiosity about their experiences that have brought the person into the session. My approach is to build a strong therapeutic alliance, provide acceptance, and focus on the present moment without judgment to help people gain the skills for managing complicated situations. Clients have often stated the experience was easy to discuss their issues without worry and they felt non-judged regardless of the situation. We will work together to discover what works, promote healing the whole person, and help understand the dynamics of existing relationships to choose to respond in a rational way to master life to the greatest extent possible. Seeking therapy can feel scary but you’re making the right choice. In our sessions together I’ll meet you with compassion and with evidence-based strategies so you can build resilience, and stability to find the supports you need.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our initial meeting will help each have time to get to know each other and for helping me understand your need in how best to help you. I recognize initial meetings can be tough. My goal is our initial session will benefit both.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I employ an integrated model that involves the understanding the whole person in the external environment that often reinforces ongoing problems. I apply CBT with the idea that mental health disorders are maintained by internal processes as irrational maladaptive thoughts and unhealthy emotional responses that need to be altered. Psychodynamic examines the whole system including the family dynamic, work environment, extended relationships scattered throughout the community. Reality Therapy helps clients to respond responsibility to establish greater control over their lives while enhancing the ability to build meaningful and effective relationships.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Some of my personal strengths that have benefited clients are perseverance, realistic, flexible, hard working, deeply engaged, and empathetic. A population with an area of need that I have been privileged to work with has been helping those in recovery from addictions. The relapse process is often a product of volatile environmental situations that folks easily break apart from their recovery that tends to repeat in patterns that are intractable. I have found these particular strengths have served me well with my therapeutic work with addictions.
