Hi, my name is Kathy. I am licensed in California as a marriage and family therapist. I have been practicing for six years. I work with adults that struggle with depression and anxiety. I have extensive experience working with individuals that have problems with substance use. I believe that you are the expert in your life. My role is to help you recognize your strengths and learn how to build on those strengths to help you become the best version of yourself.
In our first session together, we will start with brief introductions, then identify the specific challenges you are facing. That will help me create a plan that will help guide our future sessions and help you meet your treatment goals.
I work to help my clients recognize their current strengths and build on those existing strengths. Building on existing strengths helps clients feel more empowered and have the confidence to make changes.
I’ve been using CBT in my practice for the past six years. We will use CBT to help you recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. We can use that knowledge to help you challenge unhelpful thinking styles which can reduce stress and anxiety.
I have used Motivational Interviewing (MI) techniques throughout my practice. Making changes can be challenging. I use MI to help you resolve any uncertainty you may have about making changes that you have identified as important to you.
I have used Positive Psychology for the last 5 years. I believe in a strength-based approach to therapy. By identifying your strengths and what is working in your life, you can have a more satisfying life experience.
