Hello and Welcome! I'm Kaitlyn McLaughlin, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Georgia. I received my Masters degree from Brenau University and have been practicing for 5 years. I have experience working with individuals with anxiety/depression, ADHD, those who identify as LGBTQIA+, fertility/reproductive journeys, parenting, and couples/relationship issues. I help clients see the best of themselves and grow to their potential!
During the first session, we will quickly cover office policies/procedures and I will give you information about me as a therapist. We will then spend the remainder of the session covering what brings you to therapy and relevant history of who you are and what's important to you. The first session is always more of a "casual conversation" as we get to know each other and build a therapeutic alliance.
As a provider, my biggest goal is to be real. I bring my true self and personality into sessions as a therapist. My 5 years of experience also assists me in meeting a variety of different needs that each client presents. The therapeutic relationship is the most important aspect of therapy - it is what builds true growth, trust, and improvement.
I pull from a variety of therapeutic techniques and theories to tailor my approach to each individual client. Some of the techniques I pull from are: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Strength-Based, Feminist, Person-Centered, and Emotion-Focused.
I utilize many therapeutic techniques for couples therapy, including Gottman Method, Emotion-Focused, and Strength-Based.
