Hi, my name is Karen Soza, LMFT. I have been in the field for 17 years and became a therapist in 2014. I believe is a privilege being able to work with clients of different backgrounds and needs. My clinical lens offers clients the ability to understand the origin of current dynamics and how to navigate them and allow grow to happen. I also utilize practice skills from CBT and other approaches to improve functionality. But most importantly, I am committed to listen to my clients' needs and support their journey.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the first session, I like to make sure my clients are well informed about the process of therapy. I also utilize the time to build rapport and establish a safe space for clients to share. Lastly, I utilize the time to gather information that can be useful when thinking about goals.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Clients have told me that what makes it great working with me is my "down to earth" approach. I make sure clients have a safe and comfortable place to share and process and feel able to learn and make the changes form themselves.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT was the first approach I used in therapy and I appreciate its practicality, with focusing on the hear and now, addressing the behavior-thought-feeling connections and how by changing one we can influence the others.

Family Therapy

As an LMFT, family therapy provides a helpful lens in understanding dynamics and why we do the things we do and how we relate to others. Awareness of this dynamics allows clients to change those dynamics.

Eclectic

I utilize several aspects from several approaches to align to the needs of clients. From Trauma focused CBT, to narrative, to ACT. It helps to utilize what components would help in the time of change.
