I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, with over 17 years of experience in the mental health field. I have served a variety clients, from Elementary aged children to the Geriatric population. I have also worked in several different levels of care, including traditional outpatient therapy, intensive outpatient therapy, partial hospitalization, and inpatient crisis intervention.
The truth of the matter is we all need help from time to time. Counseling can be a scary first step because it is saying just that, I need help. In taking this journey together with one another there are bound to be times of laughter, frustration, and maybe even some tears. My goal is to get you on the other side of what you are going through as a stronger, wiser, and more confident person. You already have what it takes, you just need someone to help you see what is already there.
As a seasoned provider, my experience in many different mental health settings serve as a benefit. I am also welcoming and friendly.
I have always gravitated to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a therapist, and have used it with clients for over 17 years. CBT explores how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors impact and influence one another. I can personally attest to the significant progress clients have made in dealing with depression, anxiety, etc from utilizing CBT.
Christian Counseling integrates a biblical worldview with therapeutic techniques. It truly is the best of both worlds! This technique provides a framework when addressing personal challenges through a spiritual lens. It reminds us of the importance of community and faith.
Solution Focused is also a favorite of mine. This technique highlights the strengths and resources the client has within them. Put simple, the skills and ability to overcome personal challenges are already present, clients just need someone to come alongside and open their eyes to what is already there.
