Hello, I’m Adrienne. In 2017 , I received my Master’s in Rehabilitation Counseling with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health from the University of Kentucky. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I have had over 6 years experience in working with children and adults struggling with life stressors. My therapeutic strategy stems from CBT and family systems. I incorporate whole body wellness and a holistic approach.
The first session is all about building rapport and explaining the therapeutic process. We will review and discuss the documents that were completed prior to the session and discuss the challenges that brought you in to therapy. We will discuss informed consent, boundaries, and confidentiality. Lastly, we will discuss your goals and plan for our next session.
My greatest strength is helping clients get to the root cause of their issues. I believe each person with the proper support system has the answers within. My facilitated listening skills will empower you to find your own resolution. I will help you dive deep into the why and not rely on coping mechanisms.
CBT will be used to help clients identify negative thoughts, behaviors, and beliefs about situations. The client is then empower to challenge those thoughts by replacing them with more realistic and helpful thoughts and feelings; which will ultimately aide in changing behaviors and improving their emotional well-being. I will actively teach clients coping mechanisms through techniques like journaling, relaxation exercises, and behavioral experiments.
