Are you struggling with everyday life? Do you find it hard to share how you feel because you think no one else will understand? Our life journeys can be difficult at times, but it doesn't have to be journeyed alone. I love helping people learn that they can overcome the difficulties life throws at them. I am, Shelly Welsh, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist working with people struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, caregiver burnout, infidelity, vocational stressors, poor coping strategies and life transitions. I work primarily from a Cognitive Behavioral Approach while incorporating person-centered and solution-focused techniques. I will help you find the barriers to healing and growth and living your best life.
In the first session you will be greeted with warm acceptance and unconditional positive regard. This first session will be a time to get to know one another and for me to gather important and pertinent information about you and your concerns. This will also be where we will, together, determine the most immediate and pressing goal to begin working toward.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapeutic techniques will primarily be used to help you learn how to change and reshape unhealthy ways of thinking and behaving. I will listen to, teach and support you as you learn to implement different coping strategies and healthier ways of thinking. Each client is different so we will focus on where you are emotionally and what techniques work best for you.
Deciding to take the first step to change and healing is sometimes the hardest step to take and I understand how unsettling that can be. I aim to create a safe, non-judgmental, warm, empathetic and honest space for you to discover insight into your most difficult barriers and greatest strengths. I look forward to walking alongside you as you journey toward healing and growth and living your best life.
