I have been a therapist for over 25 years with my LCSW and training from the state of Georgia and The University of Georgia. I have my license in the states of Georgia and Tennessee. I enjoy helping patients learn new ways in dealing with their current or past issues. I have trauma training as well as Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness and Solution Focused Therapy training. I incorporate all of these to help people learn new coping skills and move forward in their lives.
I will do a full assessment looking at psychological issues, social issues, education background, trauma background and current issues that need to be addressed to move forward and make changes.
I try to make therapy fun and light (as much as therapy can be). Most of my patients tell me how easy it is to talk to me and that they share things with me that they have never shared with anyone else. I worked at Vanderbilt Psychiatric hospital in the past, so I have extensive knowledge in working with patients with severe mental issues, but I am just as comfortable working with someone just dealing with depression or anxiety.
I enjoy therapy with adults most. I also enjoy children from ages 12 up. I love having patients who have never had a therapist before because I enjoy teaching things to people who don't know what to expect from therapy. I like to think of myself as the education therapist because I enjoy educating my clients on new strategies to help them move forward in their life.
I have been doing CBT for 12 years. I go through 11 different common thinking issues and strategies to help with this way of thinking.
I have been doing this type of therapy for 10 years now. I have multiple different worksheets and education I provide about DBT.
I enjoy providing homework and things to do in between sessions to show progress between sessions.
I will process and work through any past or present traumas through proven trauma therapy.
