I have earned a Master of Science degree in Community Counseling from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi in 2004. I have 16 + years of experience as an LPC working with children, adolescents, adults and families with a variety of mental health concerns and diagnosis. I have experience in a outpatient setting and inpatient hospital setting. I'm also certified as a CANS Assessor for youths in foster care and have obtained a certificate to provide telehealth care to my clients.

I provide my clients with a better understanding and connection to their emotions, thoughts and behaviors and how to be able to manage their mental health better and implement their coping skills daily. I also teach my clients how to challenge their thoughts when feeling stuck, so they are able to let go and move forward on situations or others they can not fix or change. My clients will learn to self-care, self-love, and improve in their self-confidence and self-worth.
DBT is utilize to teach clients with variety of mental health conditions to learn on how to accept the reality of their lives, their behaviors, as well as helping them learn to make positive changes in their lives, and replacing unhealthy coping mechanisms with healthier coping mechanisms. Clients will learn and practice skills in mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and improve in interpersonal effectiveness. Clients will learn to live a more meaningful life and in the present moment.
ACT has been effective for a range of mental health issues and physical conditions including depression, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, eating disorders, psychosis, post traumatic stress disorder, unwanted/addictive behaviors and other stress-related issues. Clients will learn to stop avoiding, denying and struggling with their inner emotions, challenge their thoughts and learn to accept that their intense emotions are appropriate responses to certain situations that should not prevent them from moving forward in their lives. Clients will be able to adapt their thoughts and behaviors to better align with their values and goals.
Clients will become more aware of inaccurate or negative thinking so they can view challenging situations more rational and respond in a more effective way. CBT can be an effective tool to help anyone learn how to better manage stressful life situations. Clients will learn to change their thinking patterns, gain a better understanding of their behavior and motivation of others, using problem solving skills to cope with difficult situations, learning to improve in a greater sense of confidence.
Mindfulness teaches clients to sit with their own feelings, bodily sensations, and thoughts and recognize on what they are and allow them to come and go. Clients will learn to be more self-aware being in the present, openness and non-judgment about the experiences, learn to connect with self and others, and help reduce stress.
Clients are able to empower themselves to embrace their authentic selves, leading to improve self acceptance and increase self-esteem. Clients will learn to develop a strong and healthy sense of self, explore their feelings, find meaning, and focus on their strengths, accept and value themselves, make peace with difficult experiences so they can live fuller lives.
