My name is Lauren DeTurk. I got my LPC license in May 2014. I have been working in the mental health field since I was 18 years old and am now 43 years old. I have worked as an outpatient therapist, mental health worker, TSS, case manager/Supports Coordinator, mental health practitioner, MST therapist, family based therapist, behavioral health specialist, and mobile therapist. I work with individuals, couples, and families using cognitive behavioral therapy and structural and strategic family therapy.
In our first session together I will ask you questions regarding your mental health history and previous experience in therapy: what worked and what didn't work, so I can best help you.
I believe my biggest areas of strength are my empathic listening, years of experience working in the mental health field, unconditional positive regard for all of my clients, and eclectic approach to therapy.
I use CBT techniques to help client manage anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and stress to change the way they think so their feelings will be more positive and healthy.
