My name is Lauren DeTurk. I got my LPC license in May 2014. However, I have been in the field for 27 years. My top 3 specialties are infertility, Postpartum Depression and Postpartum Anxiety, and eating disorders. Another specialty and passion I have is working with couples doing couple's therapy or marital & family therapy. I thrive working with couples and this population I am extremely passionate about. I also have extensive experience treating eating disorders (binge eating disorder, bulimia, anorexia, eating disorders unspecified) throughout the years. I have experience working as a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner on Suicide Watch at a prison, as an outpatient therapist, TSS, multisystemic therapist, family-based therapist, and county caseworker working with the mental health and intellectual and developmental disabilities population securing group home funding and other services working in West Chester, PA.

My ideal clients are motivated to put in the work necessary to make the changes they want to see for improving their lives. These clients understand that they are the ones driving the bus in terms of creating lasting second order change. They are willing to accept that progress doesn't mean they are instantly better and cured, but that it will take some time and are patient with the process.

Lauren really understands what I’m trying to say and what I mean. She focuses on solutions and helps me sort out my thoughts, especially if someone has confused me or tried to manipulate me. She helps me see the situation as it really is, and that makes it easier for me to understand things clearly.

Lauren seems very understanding, supportive and flexible. I was very concerned to finally seek the help of a therapist I don’t feel that way anymore as Lauren creates a comfortable atmosphere and is attentive to my goals.
