Good Day. I'm Karen. Learning how to cope with change can be difficult. Are there times where you feel as if friends and family misunderstand you? Do you find yourself struggling with change making it hard to adapt to new environments? If so, I am here to help! I have worked in social services and mental health for over 10 years. As a Certified Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor for over 7 years, I have collaborated with agencies and organizations within New York City area to address the needs of individuals and families; including those who are struggling to heal from the impact of anxiety, depression and various addictions that can cause damage to the lives of both young people and adults alike. When collaborating with an individual, I provide support no matter your socio-economic, cultural, ethnic, educational, and other personal backgrounds. I am particularly sensitive to clients facing moments of transition, such as stress, loss, academic issues, employee issues, coping skills, marriage and family conflict; when the delicate balance can seem to tremble, and symptoms of anxiety, depression, and self-doubt can emerge.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I work with clients to explore core beliefs about themselves, others, and the systems they exist within, co-creating practical strategies tailored to each client and their life journey. I will work with you to help you understand physical responses to external stressors and begin to problem-solve ways to introduce moments of calm, to choose to respond rather than react in the face.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

My approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, an evidence-based approach that focuses on helping clients understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected, so that they can begin to make targeted change. If you are experiencing difficulties with your life due to anxiety, depression, stress, or substance abuse, by approaching treatment through a CBT, Solution Focused, Harm Reduction, and Motivational Interviewing, I will guide you to finding a new balance in life. “Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.” Arthur Ashe

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am focused on ensuring that my clients see real progress: my style is interactive, non-judgmental, and positions clients as the experts on where they are now, and where they want to go. I am also sensitive to the influence of past experiences on present challenges, and work closely with clients to reframe the narrative of their life in a way that increases self-confidence and compassion. My first priority in starting with a new client is ensuring that they feel safe, heard, and like an equal partner in the therapeutic process. As a seasoned telehealth provider, I offer the convenience of remote sessions to help make therapy a core component of your self-care calendar. I look forward to walking with you on your journey.
