Have you ever wanted a safe space to talk and explore, unfiltered and unafraid of what the other person is going to think? Well then keep reading because I might be a good match for you! I offer a different perspective. I am licensed in Texas with a decade of professional counseling experience. My natural counseling style is more flexible, casual, and exploratory. I like to create a safe space that helps clients get curious about the root cause of why they do what they do. I help clients find more than just band aid solutions. I believe in meeting people where they are at, so I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. I am here to support you in that process! I am an lgbtq+ affirming therapist who is part of the community myself so I work well with clients in the lgbtq+ community, including trans clients and clients struggling with coming out. I also work well with those recovering from spiritual abuse and who might be experiencing some form of religious trauma. For those who have undergone spiritual abuse from high control religions, I help people deconstruct from unhelpful, fundamentalist beliefs as we explore the phycological and emotional impact of existing in high control religious environments. Lastly, I work well with clients facing issues related to gender dysphoria, covert narcissistic abuse, substance abuse, domestic abuse, family enmeshment, and self esteem.
During the first session you can expect to discuss what brought you to therapy and what you'd like to get from therapy. It's ok it you don't have fully formed goals, or even a general plan! During the first session we'll figure that out. Although, first sessions can be a bit scary for some clients, my client's have often told me that I'm easy to talk to and help make the first session much less intimidating. One of the most important parts of the therapy process is finding a therapist that you connect well with, so during the first session, we can see if you think we'd be a good fit. We will just have an open conversation about your situation and make a general plan for a good direction to go.
I offer a different perspective. As far as strengths go, I am a skilled question asker. I'm also easy to talk to as many of my clients have left reviews saying that they feel comfortable sharing with me things they haven't been comfortable sharing before. I'm skilled at listening well and helping client's gain insight and make connections that will greatly improve their life by getting to the root of their suffering. I bring a genuineness and authenticity to each session.
I use a personalized process to treat clients holistically and work to address the mental and emotional impacts of the stress that results from experiencing prejudice and discrimination because of one's gender identity. I help clients explore and integrate their gender identity.
I help client's focus on their strengths and behaviors that allow them to build a life of meaning and purpose and to move beyond surviving to thriving.
Although, I don't exclusively use CBT, in most sessions I do address the general principles of CBT and work with clients to see how they can best apply that to their life. I help clients navigate any changes to the way they think and behave that will have a positive impact on their life.
I work with Women to identify and manage stressors that they may experience due to biases, discrimination, and other areas that may affect one’s mental health.
I work to provide a framework for helping clients who have undergone traumatic experiences by understanding how trauma can influence them.
