Hello, I am a Licensed Master's Social Worker in the State of Michigan. I graduated from Michigan State University and have been practicing over 30 years. I have experience working with a vast diversity of clients and have developed an eclectic approach in treatment in order to help them. The past 9 years, I have been working with clients that struggle with historical or generational trauma and mood disorders.
During the first session, I like to do brief introductions. This will give us the opportunity to get to know each other. I like to address the primary issue that bring you to see me and what other challenges you have been facing. This will help me create a treatment plan specifically for you which will help guide us through the upcoming sessions.
As a provider, I am a very good listener. I provide a client the opportunity to openly explore and identify challenges and changes they want to make in their lives. I will gently challenge clients to keep them motivated in moving towards their identified goal(s). I'm always encouraging clients to develop skills to help them address the current and future issues.
Everyone has experienced trauma during some phase of their lives. Those traumatic experiences can create barriers, preventing people from achieving their full life potential. I have many years of helping people recognize the trauma(s) that is affecting them and find their individual paths to healing themselves.
I utilize a holistic approach to understanding the influences that a client's culture and family dynamics has on their current phase of life. It important to understand the affects, assimilation and acculturation in order to help those that are experiencing generational trauma.
I have been using solution focus treatment for clients that are looking for help to resolve less deeply rooted issues. Issues that are more recent, generally within the last year, and they are struggling with making a healthy transition in their lives.
