Welcome! I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, Perinatal Mental Health Certified, Grief Counseling Certified, a Gottman Bringing Baby Home Educator, and a RETAIN Parental Leave Coach. I graduated from Arizona State University and have been practicing for 10 years. I am licensed in the state of North Carolina and see clients via telehealth and in person.
In the initial session, clients can anticipate a warm and collaborative environment where we'll discuss their reasons for seeking therapy, explore their goals, and begin to establish a trusting therapeutic relationship. I'll gather relevant background information, answer any questions they may have, and jointly outline a personalized plan for our work together. This session is an opportunity for clients to express their concerns and for us to collaboratively determine the most effective approach for their unique needs.
My therapeutic approach is characterized by a strong emphasis on empathy, active listening, and cultural competence. I strive to adapt my methods to suit the unique needs of each client, fostering a collaborative environment where we work together to set goals and develop strategies for positive change. I maintain clear professional boundaries and prioritize ongoing learning to stay informed about the latest therapeutic practices. Effective communication is at the core of my interactions, ensuring that clients feel heard, understood, and supported throughout their therapeutic journey.
In my practice, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to collaboratively identify and modify negative thought patterns, fostering positive changes in emotions and behaviors. This evidence-based approach empowers clients with practical tools to navigate and overcome psychological challenges, promoting lasting well-being.
In my practice, I employ Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients accept their thoughts and feelings, fostering mindfulness and emotional flexibility. Through this experiential approach, we work together to clarify values and commit to meaningful actions, empowering individuals to create a richer, more fulfilling life. ACT serves as a practical and effective framework for cultivating psychological flexibility and resilience.
In my practice, I embrace a Strengths-Based Approach, focusing on identifying and harnessing the inherent strengths and capabilities within individuals. By highlighting and building upon their positive attributes, we collaboratively work towards enhancing resilience, fostering personal growth, and navigating challenges. This empowering approach emphasizes the client's existing strengths as a foundation for achieving meaningful and sustainable positive change.
I provide a supportive and compassionate space for individuals navigating the complexities of loss. Through a client-centered approach, we explore the unique facets of grief, working together to process emotions, develop coping strategies, and find meaning in the midst of loss. Grief therapy aims to honor the individual's unique journey, fostering healing and resilience as they navigate the challenges associated with bereavement.
I collaborate with clients to explore and reshape the narratives that shape their lives. By externalizing problems and emphasizing personal strengths and resilience, we work together to reconstruct empowering stories that align with their values and aspirations. This approach enables individuals to gain a new perspective on challenges, fostering a sense of agency and allowing for transformative change through the re-authoring of their life narratives.
