Hello and welcome! My name is Dr. Tony Salaam, and I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I’m here to support you on your healing and personal growth journey. I have experience working with a diverse range of individuals who have faced challenges such as trauma, depression, anxiety, anger management, and crises. My approach to therapy is positive and holistic, focusing on finding balance in your life through self-esteem improvement and self-care. I use various modalities such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Motivation Interviewing, and Solution Focus Therapy.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I often use Cognitive Behavior Therapy in my practice. In your first session, we will explore what brought you to therapy and chart out an appropriate course of action to help you make progress. We will also look at thoughts and feelings that have kept you feeling sad and unhappy and learn new skills to challenge those self-destructive thoughts.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I work closely with individuals who are facing anxiety, depression, trauma, and PTSD caused by various life challenges in our initial session. I aim to understand how these experiences have contributed to the barriers you may feel have blocked you from achieving happiness and peace of mind. Let's work together.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have over 20 years of experience. Once these thoughts are recognized, individuals practice reframing them with more balanced and rational alternatives while also engaging in positive behavioral changes. Regular self-monitoring and the application of coping strategies help reinforce these new patterns and promote long-term mental well-being.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I work with the client on mindfulness and distress Tolerance (tolerating painful emotions), Emotion Regulation (understanding and managing emotional responses), and Interpersonal Effectiveness (communicating needs and establishing boundaries). Practicing these skills regularly, often through individual therapy and skills training groups, helps individuals improve their emotional resilience and navigate challenging situations more effectively.
