Welcome! My name is Erin, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of Florida. I have over 10 years of experience treating people from all kinds of backgrounds and varying mental health concerns, but my focus is currently on adults struggling with phobias, anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). My sessions are often filled with humor, though I take each of my clients' struggles seriously. I am solution-focused and goal-oriented in my sessions to ensure that therapy is providing something of value to everyone who entrusts me with their care. I do my best to instill hope for a better future while providing support during times when hope feels hard to come by.
On the first day of treatment, I complete a thorough review of what brings you to treatment, your family history, medical history, substance use history, educational and vocational history, as well as identifying information. I also review the consent to treat form which goes over my personal policies as well as your rights as a client, including confidentiality. I answer any questions you might have about my experience in the field, psychology, types of treatment that I use, and other concerns you may have. Once I have worked with you to better understand everything you have been struggling with over the years, I use that information to build your treatment plan in preparation for sessions 2 and 3, where therapy begins.
I have had the invaluable opportunity to learn from and help people struggling with all kinds of anxiety, subcategories of OCD, and phobias. Some examples of conditions that I have treated are listed below. The list covers some, but not all, of the diagnoses that I have treated: • Social anxiety • Panic disorder • Generalized anxiety • Insect/animal phobias, emetophobia, aviophobia, carpophobia • Harm OCD • OCD about sexually intrusive thoughts • Contamination OCD • Symmetry/exactness OCD • Morality OCD • Scrupulosity • Checking/pathological doubt OCD • Hoarding • Mental/Emotional contamination • Sexual orientation OCD • Relationship OCD • Illness anxiety
I worked as a specialist in a partial hospitalization program for five years, and it is where I learned how to use ERP to assist people struggling with some of the most severe forms of OCD, anxiety, and phobias.
