New to Grow
Welcome! I provide client-centered, solution-focused counseling designed to support your journey to wellness and help you navigate life’s challenges so you can return to living fully. My approach blends empathy, creativity, and practical strategies to guide you toward healing and growth. I hold a Master’s Degree in Community and Addiction Counseling from The College of William & Mary, with additional training in family counseling, art therapy, spirituality counseling, family play therapy, and motivational interviewing. Over the years, I’ve worked in a variety of settings—including psychiatric care, schools, trauma centers, domestic violence shelters, substance abuse treatment centers, and general counseling agencies. These diverse experiences allow me to adapt to each client’s unique needs and goals.
Our first session will be a chance for me to listen deeply to your concerns and begin building a strong, supportive relationship. Together, we’ll explore what brought you to therapy, talk about confidentiality and safety planning, and review any Telehealth procedures if applicable. I’ll help you start to untangle challenges and begin shaping a personalized path forward, using your strengths, creativity, and preferences as the foundation.
I take a holistic approach, recognizing that healing often involves the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. At times, we may explore how nutrition and lifestyle factors can support emotional well-being. I also use creative approaches such as art journaling and guided imagery, which many clients find helpful for self- expression and insight. Above all, my strength lies in listening closely and helping you discover your own inner wisdom and capacity for growth.
I specialize in supporting clients who are experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, parenting or family struggles, women’s issues, and goal-setting concerns. Many of the individuals I work with struggle with feelings of low motivation, worthlessness, overwhelm, shame, worry, frustration, or helplessness. My goal is to provide a safe and encouraging space where you can process these emotions, develop healthier coping strategies, and begin moving toward healing, resilience, and greater confidence.
I'm passionate about helping clients live their best lives because I know what it's like to overcome being stuck. I use a person-centered approach, fully engaging with meeting you where you are. Our first sessions will focus on building rapport and exploring your concerns in depth so that we can develop a plan that helps you reach your goals.
For help managing strong emotions, I will utilize cognitive behavioral strategies to help identify unwanted patterns and change them to patterns that will help you reach your goals. I incorporate methods of dialectical behavior therapy, which is an effective approach to catching overwhelming feelings and unproductive behavior and making a conscious decision to choose more helpful responses.
For clients stuck in patterns that get in the way of productive change, I use motivational interviewing approaches to help shift the balance towards desired change. MI incorporates a Stages of Change model to help you move through pre-contemplation, contemplation, preparation, action, and maintaining success.
With a focus on solutions, I'll help you explore what you've done that's worked in the past and how we can build on those skills to develop strategies that work for your current situation.
My approach is holistic, often incorporating nutrition, lifestyle and self-care strategies, and mindfulness, relaxation, and art techniques.
