About me

Hi, I’m Laura and I am so glad you're here. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker practicing in Pennsylvania and Maryland with nearly 20 years of experience helping individuals and families navigate life’s challenges. Over the years, I’ve worked in a variety of settings—including outpatient therapy, in-home family support, schools, and medical social work—which has given me a broad perspective on the many ways people experience struggle and resilience. I work with clients facing depression, anxiety, relationship and family conflicts, grief and loss, parenting challenges, life transitions, ADHD and trauma. My therapeutic approach draws from Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Strengths-Based Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based. Most importantly, I bring a genuine, open-minded, and non-judgmental presence to our sessions. I believe that therapy works best when it’s grounded in trust, honesty, and collaboration. Whether you’re looking for tools to manage a specific challenge or simply need a safe space to process and be heard, I’m here to support you. My goal is to create a supportive environment where we can have real conversations—sometimes difficult, always compassionate—and work together toward growth and healing. I’d be honored to walk alongside you through this process.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During your first session, we’ll focus on getting to know you and understanding what brings you to therapy. I’ll ask about your current concerns, personal history, and any goals you have for our work together. This session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions about the therapeutic process, my approach, and how we might work together. My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you feel heard and understood. By the end of the session, we’ll have a clearer understanding of your needs, and we may begin discussing strategies and next steps to support your growth and well-being.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I am a compassionate and strengths-oriented mental health professional who integrates several evidence-based approaches into my practice. I use CBT to help clients challenge unhelpful thoughts and behaviors, mindfulness-based treatments to promote present-moment awareness and emotional regulation, psychoeducation to empower clients with knowledge and understanding, and a strength-based approach to highlight resilience and build confidence. My therapeutic style is supportive, holistic, and client-centered, aiming to help individuals grow, heal, and live with greater purpose and balance.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work well with clients who are motivated to create positive change and open to self-reflection and growth. They may be struggling with anxiety, depression, stress, or life transitions, but are willing to engage in the therapeutic process and explore new ways of thinking and coping. This client values learning and insight, benefits from structure and practical tools, and is ready to build on their strengths while developing greater self-awareness and emotional balance. They are seeking a collaborative, supportive environment where they can feel empowered to live more authentically and in alignment with their values.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

When using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with a client, I would help them identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns that contribute to emotional distress or maladaptive behaviors. Together, we would explore the connection between thoughts, feelings, and actions, and develop healthier, more balanced ways of thinking. I would also incorporate behavioral strategies—such as journaling, exposure exercises, or relaxation techniques—to reinforce positive change and build coping skills that the client can apply in daily life.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

When using mindfulness-based treatments in my practice, I would help clients develop greater awareness of their thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations in the present moment without judgment. I would incorporate techniques such as mindful breathing, body scans, and guided meditation to enhance self-awareness and emotional regulation. By fostering acceptance and compassion toward their inner experiences, clients can reduce stress, manage anxiety, and respond to challenges with greater calm and clarity.

Psychoeducation

When using psychoeducation in my practice, I would provide clients with information about their diagnosis, symptoms, and treatment options to help them better understand their experiences. I would use this approach to normalize their feelings, reduce stigma, and empower them to take an active role in their recovery. By teaching practical skills and evidence-based strategies, clients can build insight and confidence in managing their mental health more effectively.

Strength-Based

When using a strength-based approach in my practice, I would focus on identifying and building upon each client’s existing strengths, resources, and resilience. I would help clients recognize their past successes and inner capabilities to foster self-efficacy and empowerment. By emphasizing what is working well and promoting a sense of hope, clients can use their strengths as tools for overcoming challenges and achieving their therapeutic goals.
