If you need an appointment other than what is listed, please call me directly at 267-225-7838 so I can confirm your availability. I'm Shekhina, a Multiracial/Biracial Messianic Jewish Believer in Yeshua (Jesus) as my L-rd and Savior, in addition to a faith-based Psychotherapist, Licensed Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor, and Licensed Behavioral Consultant based out of Philadelphia, PA. I have an MS from Grand Canyon University and over 25 years of counseling experience. I have owned and founded The Counselor's Heart Therapeutic Services since 2019. My mission is to help individuals grow in their relationship with Jesus, identify the root of dysfunctional behavior, and break the cycle of sin, toxic patterns, and intergenerational trauma/generational curses. People often "move forward with time, but never move on," meaning they move on with time but never move on from past hurts. I desire to help clients move on to live productive and healthy lives through their faith in God without being haunted by past trauma.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Within our first session, we will briefly introduce ourselves. I will appropriately disclose my professional experiences and minimal personal history to create a comfortable and safe atmosphere where you can share reasons you came to therapy. The remainder of the session allows you to share what brought you to treatment and what goals you would like to achieve. In addition, I'll provide feedback while validating your feelings and concerns. The session will end with assigning coping skills and homework to continue therapy outside the session.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked with many Christians/Believers in Yeshua (Jesus) in diverse settings for the past 20 years, I've developed a unique approach to utilizing evidence-based therapy and scripture references to help you identify the root cause of your challenges and experience a holistic therapeutic experience to see change right away. Also, I use an eclectic therapy approach that draws on multiple theoretical orientations and techniques to serve my clients better.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Helping clients identify how their thoughts affect their feelings and behaviors and reframing them will change them and create a different behavior.

Couples Counseling

I have experience working with traditional heterosexual families or couples/ marriage in therapy. You and your family come to therapy together. Because everybody is there, you can work on problems affecting the family and devise a mutual compromise that benefits everyone involved.

Christian Counseling

As a Messianic Jewish Believer in Yeshua (Jesus) as my Lord and Savior, I believe that Counselors are born and not made, as stated in Isaiah 9:6. As a faith-based counselor, I provide Christian/Faith-based therapy utilizing scientific, evidence-based therapeutic approaches along with the scriptural application, giving the client holistic therapeutic experiences.

Faith based therapy

As a faith-based therapist, I help clients explore life’s challenges through biblical applications. Faith-based therapy teaches you to apply scriptures and biblical principles to overcome challenges in the areas where you struggle the most.

Eclectic

As a psychotherapist, I strive to use evidence-based therapeutic approaches combining an eclectic technique that draws on multiple theoretical orientations and strategies to serve my clients better, e.g., Faith Based, trauma-informed, Structure family therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, REBT, Psychodrama, Writing/Poetry therapy, and other forms of creative therapeutic expressions help evoke feelings to bring about change in a nontraditional setting. My mission as an abuse survivor, adoptee, and once a young mother is to help individuals identify the root of dysfunctional behavior and break the cycle of sin or toxic patterns and intergenerational/generational trauma intergender curses. People often “move forward with time, but never move on,” from past hurts. My desire as a Psychotherapist is to help clients move on to live a productive and healthy life without being haunted by past trauma.
