Hello! I’m a Multi-Ethnic Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Certified Biblio/Poetry Therapist, Holistic Wellness Life Coach and Small Business Coach based in California. I received my Masters from Chapman University and have been practicing for more than 15 years. I help BIPOC women experiencing unique complexities from prolonged stressors that impact their mental, emotional and physical health. This could mean feeling overwhelmed by chronic stress or emotional challenges that impact your personal and professional life. We will work together to restore wellbeing through mindful awareness, health advocacy and liberation-oriented practices.
In our first session, we will get to know each other, discuss the challenges you are facing and then identify your goals and dreams for the future. This will help us create a plan for how we will work together in future sessions.
Having 7 years of experience working in integrative care (with doctors, psychiatrist clinical managers and medical social workers), I take a holistic approach to women’s health to identify the source of symptoms. As a multi-ethnic female provider, I am passionate about women’s health and continue learning way to advocate for my clients by accessing resources and supports. I facilitated a Work Stress Clinic for 4 years and provider coping strategies and tools to hundreds of clients dealing with toxic work environments. I worked closely with women of color struggling with workplace microaggressions, systemic racism, lack of representation in leadership positions, and the added pressure to perform exceptionally to overcome stereotypes, leading to physical and mental health impacts and burnout. I am aware that this problem is getting worse. According to data from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), a significant majority of American workers, around 83%, report experiencing work-related stress, with many citing excessive productivity demands as a major contributing factor; this means a large portion of the US workforce feels stressed due to high expectations regarding output and performance.
I love working with professional women of color who are ready to create a lifestyle that honors who they are, meets their needs, provides access to supports and connects them to community so they can achieve their personal and professional goals. My ideal client is some one who is ready create time and space to lean and grow, open to self-exploration and change, and inspired to show up to receive support when they feel stuck, depressed, overwhelmed and anxious.
Using a holistic approach to treatment by viewing the mind and body as a single unit. The goal is to address the mental and physical aspects of health simultaneously.
Using a deep understanding of systemic racism and cultural considerations to create a safe and supportive therapeutic environment for people of color; treatment is designed to address the impacts of experiencing racism and racial discrimination by focusing on validating personal experiences, acknowledging the pain, helping to process the trauma, and developing coping mechanisms to navigate future encounters with racism while building resilience and a strong sense of self identity.
Able to build a therapeutic partnership that is based on actively acknowledging and respecting your cultural background, including their race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, and other relevant cultural factors, by incorporating this understanding into the treatment plan to provide the most effective care possible.
