I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) licensed in Virginia. I received a master's degree from Liberty University and have been licensed since 2011. I specialize in Christian counseling, relationship issues, and working with women. I prefer the cognitive behavioral (a form of talk therapy) approach and/or the solution-focused, goal-oriented approach, but I am versed in other modalities. If you find that talking helps when you're worried or struggling, I might be a good fit for you as a therapist.
Our first session is an information-gathering session where I'll ask you to tell me a little about yourself and what brings you into therapy. We'll talk about your therapy goals and come up with a treatment plan tailored specifically for you.
I have worked in the mental health field for approximately 20 years, have been licensed since 2011, and will provide a nonjudgmental presence in a safe and therapeutic telehealth environment.
In Christian counseling, traditional talk therapy methodologies are integrated with the Christian faith. If you’d like me to pray for or with you, just ask! We know that where two or more are gathered in His name, He is in the midst.
Cognitive behavioral therapy can be used to decrease fear, depression, and anxiety by challenging intrusive or reoccurring thoughts. With CBT techniques, we'll determine how thoughts influence feelings and how they influence behaviors. We'll then challenge your thoughts and work toward changing your thinking patterns, which results in decreased mental health distress.
