Hello, I'm Tatenda. I’m Tatenda. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Licensed Clinical Addictions Counselor (LCAC) with 13 years of experience helping clients work through anxiety and depression. Whether related to work, school, family, relationships, body image, and/or self-esteem, I begin by working with my clients to identify their personal trigger(s). To this end, I tailor each session to specifically address who I’m with, where they are with their unique challenges, and where they are in their life. Then, with this framework setting the stage, I provide an environment of understanding and compassion to allow each client to feel safe and supported as they work to set boundaries and meet their goals. I believe my clients already have what they need within to be successful. It's my job and honor to help them unveil their "hidden" potential in ways that are nurturing, non-judgmental, and compassionate.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, I will answer any questions you have about the therapeutic process, learn about your reasons for seeking therapy, and we will create a systematic plan to help you achieve your goals. I hope that afterward, you will feel safe and assured that I am able to help you with what has brought you to therapy.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My clients most appreciate my calm demeanor, ability to listen, and willingness to work alongside them to identify challenges and implement goals.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

One of my top goals is to help my clients identify negative, destructive, and/or ineffective thought patterns. Then, through my structured sessions, I work with clients to arm them with the tools they need to transform those thought patterns into positive, healthy, and motivational ways of thinking. I have over 13 years of experience utilizing CBT with children, adults, and older adults.

Motivational Interviewing

I approach my sessions with person, place, and time in mind. This means is that I tailor each session to specifically address who I’m with, where they are with their unique challenges, and where they are in their life. With this framework setting the stage, I provide an environment of understanding and compassion to allow each client to feel safe and supported as they work to meet their goals.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

ACT is beneficial in identifying obstacles that may be preventing individuals from living their best life and can assist individuals in committing to what will bring them joy, a sense of purpose, and the desire to achieve what is best for them and their relationships with Self and Others. I enjoy working alongside my clients and being a part of their "aha!!" moments on their life's journey.
