Hello! I am Beth Aguayo LCSW, and I am a licensed clinical therapist was 17 years of experience. Have you been feeling like you want to do something different in your life lately? Are you unsure about the next choice to make, feeling overwhelmed or more anxious than you would like? Perhaps you're a parent who is finding it hard to balance the many roles that you fulfill in your life. If any of these situations and feelings sound familiar, it might be a great time to start therapy and I could be a good match for you! I have felt compelled to be a compassionate listener and supporter of others throughout my life. I followed this passion by obtaining my Masters in Social Work from Loyola University of Chicago. Connection, compassion, authenticity, and empathy are the cornerstones of my therapeutic approach. My experiences with children and adolescents have gifted me unique insight and understanding of many parenting issues including, coping with parenting, children who struggle with mental health or behavioral difficulties. I enjoy supporting women as they become mothers, cope with infertility, during their pregnancy, or as they manage postpartum depression/anxiety. I have worked with a wide variety of individuals in private practice, school settings, community mental health, and integrated healthcare settings. Supporting people of any age who are struggling with symptoms of anxiety, mood disorder, ADHD, grief, relationship issues, and health related challenges, has been very rewarding. I understand the demands of day-to-day life, demanding schedules, and stress, which many people balance. In order to meet the needs of my clients I offer evening and weekend appointments. I look forward to learning about your life and how I may work with you on your journey.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together I will gather information about what is bringing you to therapy now, understanding what has motivated you to seek treatment now and understanding the goals you have for therapy is important. I will ask you questions about past experiences related to your current challenges and gather some general history. I will be able to then develop a plan for treatment that supports your goals.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I have had some additional training in motivational interviewing, CBT, strength based approach, mindfulness, and behavioral health care. I take a client center to approach which means I constantly seek out feedback and clarity around what feels comfortable and resonates therapeutically with each individual client.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I truly enjoy working with mothers and parents as they look to improve their own mental health, while supporting the growth and development of their own children. Parenting can be overwhelming, isolating, and challenging beyond what one expects. When a client is struggling in their role as a parent, and especially if there are there are behavioral or emotional problems for their children, it can create a greater distance from family and friends who are usually sources if support. Come to a space that is only for you, to process, reflect, and grow! No matter what you are going through making the decision to join therapy can be intimidating and even scary. I promise you there is hope in finding a good connection where you can feel comfortable to share even your most uncomfortable thoughts.
