Hello - I am an LCSW serving the adult population in the state of California. I earned my MSW degree from San Jose State University and have been licensed for 12 years. I work with clients from a strength based perspective and offer knowledge/skills to support in increasing functioning and efficacy. I believe in mindfulness practices and making the most of each moment thus moving away from depressive and anxious thoughts. I also excel in increasing self esteem/compassion and improving relationships to self and others. I hope to see you on my schedule and look forward to working with you!
Our first session will include communication from you about the presenting problem and your goals for therapy. We will develop a treatment plan together. I will have many questions to ask you about your symptoms, stressors, and social history in order to better understand and meet your needs. I will answer any questions you have about therapy and treatment. Most importantly we will begin to develop a positive bond together so that we can move forward effectively and securely in each session.
I think that my greatest strengths as a provider include empathetic listening, asking probing questions, guiding a client to improved functioning and efficacy, offering coping skills and providing knowledge about your mental health diagnosis and symptoms. I strongly believe in the mind, body, soul connection and continue to educate myself in this area to offer additional treatment options to clients. I work well with all adults and being a mature woman can offer a perspective to young, middle aged, and older clients.
My philosophy is that if a client can be aware of thoughts, feelings and actions then any one or more of these can be understood/challenged in order to increase efficacy.
I will teach you skills to tolerate distressful emotions, being in the present moment, and strengthening your relationships.
Guidance and understanding of the grief process and making meaning of your loss is important in learning how to move forward in your life while carrying your loved one in your heart.
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift that is why it is called the present.
