Hello, my name is Bernard Scott, and I live in Boston Massachusetts. I attended Boston Public Schools, attended Boston University for my bachelor's degree, Simmons University for my master's degree, and Southern California School of Professional Studies where I received my Doctorate (PsyD) in Counseling Psychology. I became licensed in (psychiatric) Clinical Social Work and received my LICSW License in 1996. I have been in this field for over 35 years and worked in a number of clinics, hospitals in Boston and Brockton. I enjoy helping people find their inner strength and work through those subconscious unresolved issues from the past so that the individual can finally be free from childhood traumas, past relationship issues ect. I strongly believe that between the developmental ages of 1 through 18 can and does affect who you are today and what ever happened to you between that time still as a hold on you today at the ages of 20, 30 50, etc. Getting rid of all that hurt, anger, trauma, etc. so that you can address it, work through it, come to terms with it and ultimately leave it all behind, and unload it.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session we will start building that therapeutic alliance that has the person getting to know their therapist and the therapist gets to know the person. I make the sessions nonjudgmental, safe, nurturing, and comfortable for the person so that they have a safe place to talk about any and everything.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe my sincere, genuine, sincerity, caring qualities, traits, character, reassures the person is in a safe environment to be their self .

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

Once again. I enjoy helping adults work through their childhood traumas that still have a hold on them today. We think we can manage those childhood traumas and relationship traumas, etc. but we do not. They are still with us in your adult years and affect our relations, friendships, ect. We try to bury the hurt, neglect, abuse, sexual abuse that happened so long ago but it subconsciously affects you in your adult hood in so many negative ways.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Throughout our lives we all have unique experiences, and these experiences affect the way we think. Depending on the situation your way of thinking will be affected. Those unhealthy thoughts can make you depressed and/or anxious. CBT helps the person to develop healthy ways of thinking. Learning how to have more positive and rational thoughts which in turn leads to alleviations f anxious thoughts and depressive thoughts.

Psychodynamic

Psychodynamic therapy focuses on understanding how a person's subconscious thoughts and feelings, and memories influence their current behavior. This therapy aims to help individuals gain insight into their unconscious processes and develops coping skills

Interpersonal

Interpersonal therapy (IPT) is evidence-based treatment that focuses on improving interpersonal relationships and social functioning to help reduce psychological distress. Together we will look at your relationship and identify the reason for emotional distress (anxiety, depression, feeling of inadequacy, low self-esteem, low self-worth, and lack of confidence) and dismantle problematic issues and learn new ways of thinking that will improve interactions
