LMHC, 16 years of experience
I am a New York State Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor with 17 years of experience helping individuals navigate life's challenges. I specialize in working with substance use disorders, anxiety, trauma, relationships, and more. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and tailed to each person's unique needs. I draw from evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and EMDR to support clients understanding themselves more deeply, overcoming obstacles, and developing healthier ways of coping. I believe therapy should be a safe and supportive space where you can explore without fear of stigma of bias. My goal is to help you build resilience, embrace your authentic self, and create meaningful and lasting change in your life.
Our first counseling session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other in a comfortable and supportive setting. I'll start by asking about what brings you to therapy and what you hope to gain from the process. We'll talk about your background, strengths, and any challenges you're facing, but at a pace that feels right for you.
I provide an empathetic, warm, creative, and non-judgmental approach to therapy. I am committed to helping clients heal and regain a sense of control and well-being in their lives. I offer skills to change thoughts/behaviors that aren't aiding in your progress within your healing journey.
My areas of specialty are substance use, depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship and behavioral issues. I use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), and Solution-Focused Therapy. I also incorporate mindfulness and relaxation exercises to promote emotional regulation and build resilience.
EMDR trained therapist for five years utilizing this form of therapy to help clients work through their trauma.

Initially I chose Heather based on her profile, she seemed around my age, relatable, empathetic, like I was going to be comfortable talking with her. And that all is true. She is very easy to talk to, it's like talking to a friend, but she gives honest, level headed advice and offers perspectives outside of my own. I feel like she genuinely cares about me and wants me to succeed. I look forward to our sessions and always feel better after them!
